What’s for pudding? Let’s have something
different this week which everyone will enjoy. Making this
small change to the weekly menu brightens up the daily eating
pattern particularly if anyone in the house is doing exams
and bored with the tedium of revision. When they are having
a break, make them thread the fruit on the skewer and chat
about physics, chemistry, german, history, etc. and who knows
they may do some more study!

| Kiwifruit |

Method
Thread fruits onto 4 metal skewers, mixing the colours as
desired. A child could choose the fruit order and put on the
skewers with adult supervision. You could use wooden skewers
that have been pre soaked for a few hours. Mix together the
zest of one orange with the juice of two oranges, a pinch
of cinnamon and 3 tablespoons of manuka honey. Drizzle over
the kebabs and place under a hot grill for about five minutes,
turning occasionally so they brown but don’t burn.
Serve with low fat yogurt.
This is such a fun combination
and can be easily extended
for more mouths! It can easily be cooked outside with younger
children
watching or even cooking under supervision!
