Cookery Book Choice

Revamp In The Kitchen

An opportunity to check out new things in the kitchen to brighten the culinary experience…and possibly eat a little healthier too!

Cucina Direct
www.cucinadirect.co.uk

You will find lots of fun products for the kitchen which should make daily cookery a little more interesting. Popular choices include the Nut chopper (£9.95) so you can sprinkle a little more fibre onto the salads and add a bit of a crunch. What about some beech salad servers to make a salad fun for the youngsters? They can be also used to toss pasta and cost £5.95

Lakeland Limited
www.lakelandlimited.co.uk

Anybody worth their weight in the kitchen has to have a mandoline this summer to chop the veggies into all sorts of shapes and Lakeland Limited has an excellent product with its finger-friendly holder. It has 6 blades and can easily be stored so it does not take up too much space in the cupboard. £29.95

Friends in the Kitchen love Lakeland Limited ‘Round the Neck Timer’. Press in the time and put the timer around your neck on its adjustable cord, so you can leave the cooker but don’t forget the cooking. It actually looks quite trendy! And so useful! £7.95

Sarah Smith Kitchen Cloths
www.sarah-smith.co.uk

Boy! These cloths really stand out at the local supermarket (even more so in the kitchen) and they work well too. They cost £1.99 for three and they encourage everyone to do a little more clearing up.

Portmeirion Pottery
www.portmeirion.co.uk

Have you seen the latest range of pottery for the summer? Portmeiron has brought out some interesting ranges in recent year and the latest ‘Crazy Daisy’ is wonderful. It’s fresh and has a sixties feel to it yet retains a modern look for today’s kitchen. It is not available online yet but should be in the shops by mid June. Definitely worth a look!

Flowering Tea
www.nicholas-hitchcock.com

Have fun with an afternoon cuppa and buy a flowering tea head. Simply pop it in a glass jug or a lovely Japanese clear glass teapot, pour on the hot water and wait five minutes. Increase your levels of flavenoids and have a visual surprise. This really is a delight if a friend pops in for a cuppa with a difference!

If you have recently bought something for the kitchen that may appeal to others then do email the information to Friends in the Kitchen. We all like a change in the kitchen…not just in the food that is served!
